Overview
About the Project
We are developing a connection for the Scottish Power Renewables owned Earraghail Wind Farm, located near Tarbert in Argyll. This will include the construction of approximately 5.6km of 275kV double circuit overhead line between the Craig Murrail - Crossaig and the Earraghail 275/33kV Substations.
The works will include the following:
- Installation of a 275kV overhead tower line approximately 5.6km in length
- Installation of a 120MVA 275/33kV transformer and associated transformer circuit breaker
- A circuit breaker isolator
- A 33kV switchboard
These works will form part of the establishment of a new 275/33kV substation at Earraghail Wind Farm.
Community Engagement
Throughout the life of our projects, we aim to work positively with local communities and keep people informed about what we are doing. This is particularly important when we are developing a proposal and we want to understand what local people think about our plans.
We endeavour to take the time to discuss proposals with local community councils, encourage engagement from the wider community and listen to the feedback we receive.
We will do our best to answer any questions and address issues or concerns that are raised with us.
When our project progresses into construction, we will continue working closely with the local community to ensure that our work has as little impact on the lives of those living and working in the area and as many long term positive effects as possible.
How we’re embracing artificial intelligence (AI)
We intend to use AI to assist our experienced teams in the analysis of your feedback, so we can categorise key points raised more quickly. You can learn more about how we’re utilising AI on this dedicated web page.

Report on Routeing Consultation
We completed the Routeing Consultation between August and September 2022 which sought comments on the proposals, the approach to route selection, the analysis of Route Options and the identification of a Preferred Route. This can be viewed on the project documents section of this webpage.
The consultation process has confirmed that Route Option 1B should be taken forward as the Proposed Route, within which further study will seek to identify alignment options. Please see the attached Report on Consultation that describes the key responses received and details the actions taken in response to the issues raised.
We would like to thank stakeholoders for taking the time to respond to the Routeing Consultation and we look forward to ongoing engagement with you as we progress to the alignment stage.
We are looking to hold our Alignment Consultation in Summer 2023 and will be in touch stakeholders with further information. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with the Community Liaison Manager.
