Overview
About the Project
We are developing a project which will seek to connect SSE Renewables Tangy IV Wind Farm, located north west of Campbeltown in Argyll, to our transmission network.
The 100MW Tangy IV Wind Farm requires approximately 21km of new 132kV overhead Line to be constructed to connect to the existing overhead line between Crossaig Substation, Carradale GSP (Grid Supply Point) and Tangy IV Wind Farm Substation.
The proposed project scope includes:
- Installation of a 132kV trident overhead line, approximately 21km in length
- Transformer protection equipment and cabling work associated with the installation of the 120 MVA 132/33kV transformer. The works will include protection, earthing, fencing and ancillary substation equipment
Community Engagement
Throughout the life of our projects, we aim to work positively with local communities and keep people informed about what we are doing. This is particularly important when we are developing a proposal and we want to understand what local people think about our plans.
We endeavour to take the time to discuss proposals with local community councils, encourage engagement from the wider community and listen to the feedback we receive.
We will do our best to answer any questions and address issues or concerns that are raised with us.
When our project progresses into construction, we will continue working closely with the local community to ensure that our work has as little impact on the lives of those living and working in the area and as many long term positive effects as possible.
How we’re embracing artificial intelligence (AI)
We intend to use AI to assist our experienced teams in the analysis of your feedback, so we can categorise key points raised more quickly. You can learn more about how we’re utilising AI on this dedicated web page.

Report on Routeing Consultation
SSEN Transmission completed the Routeing Consultation for the proposed Tangy IV Wind farm connection project between August and October 2022 which sought comments on the proposals, the approach to route selection, the analysis of Route Options and the identification of a Preferred Route.
The consultation process has confirmed that a combination of Route Options Route Options A2, B2 and C1 to be taken forward as the preferred option. Within which further study will seek to identify alignment options. If you wish to view our Report on Consultation it can be accessed via the project documents section of this webpage. Our Report on Consultation describes the key responses received and details the actions taken in response to the issues raised.
We are looking to hold our Alignment Consultation in Autumn 2023 and will be in touch with further information.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to respond to the Routeing Consultation and we look forward to ongoing engagement with you as we progress to the alignment stage.
In the meantime, if you have any queries, or wish to discuss anything further, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly via the dedicated project Community Liaison Manager, Caitlin Quinn on Caitlin.quinn@sse.com.
