Amplifying Blooms: Bringing floral art to the Perth Festival of the Arts
Perth Floral Art Club received £1,000 from our East Coast Local Fund to deliver a new creative flower arranging event as part of the Perth Festival of the Arts 2026. The project will introduce individuals to flower arranging as a creative art form, while highlighting its wellbeing and community benefits.
The club has a long-standing relationship with the Perth Festival of the Arts, having provided and maintained floral arrangements across festival venues for many years. This funding has enabled the club to expand its contribution by developing a live creative demonstration, bringing a new genre into the festival programme.
A floral-inspired evening featuring award-winning Ayrshire farmer-florist, James Gemmell, is set to take place at St Matthew’s Church in Perth on Monday 18 May. James will showcase his floral art techniques live, alongside piano music by Perthshire’s Michael Ellacott.
Tickets can be purchased from the Perth Festival of Arts website.
Janice Sloan, Chair of Perth Floral Art Club, said:
“This funding from SSEN Transmission’s East Coast Local Fund has not only benefited Perth Floral Art Club but has also added diversity with the introduction of a new genre to the Perth Festival of the Arts programme for 2026.
Club members are thrilled and delighted to be creating this vibrant celebration of floral artistry by James Gemmell, set to the uplifting sounds of much-loved local musician Michael Ellacott — an inspiring addition to the festival line-up.”
