About the Regional Community Benefit Fund

We want communities connected to our transmission network to share in the benefits of the clean energy transition.

Our Regional Community Benefit Fund supports ambitious, strategic projects that create lasting change for communities across the north of Scotland. It forms part of our long‑term investment in the network and our commitment to leave a positive legacy.

What the fund supports

The Regional Fund backs community projects that:

  • Create long‑term impact
  • Benefit more than one community, or can be replicated elsewhere
  • Strengthen communities socially, culturally and economically

Your project must support at least one of the following themes, shaped by feedback from our 2023 community consultation:

1. People – skills and employability

2. Place – community and culture

3. Alleviating fuel poverty

Who can apply

To apply for this fund, you need to be a legally constituted community group, a non-profit organisation, or a registered charity who operates in our network area in the north of Scotland.

Your community project must also have a regional focus. We also offer local community benefit funds which are for communities in close proximity to new transmission infrastructure.

Designed in collaboration with local communities

It’s important to us that this fund reflects what matters most to the people it benefits.

The Regional Fund has been shaped by an extensive consultation and feedback excercise.

Our commitment to communities

Our transmission network is central to delivering secure, clean energy for the north of Scotland and beyond. We believe the communities who host this infrastructure should share directly in its benefits.

Through the Regional Community Benefit Fund, we’re investing in people, places and alleviating fuel poverty. This will help the north of Scotland grow stronger - now and for generations to come.

If you have an idea with the potential to deliver lasting regional impact, we’d welcome an application when the fund reopens later this year.
