SSEN Transmission invites community to consultation on plans to extend Alyth substation
14 October 2026
- Public consultation event to take place at Alyth Town Hall on Tuesday 27 October
- Local residents and stakeholders invited to view the plans, meet the project team and provide feedback
We are inviting local residents to a public consultation event later this month to learn more about plans to extend our existing Alyth substation.
The drop-in event will take place on Tuesday 27 October, between 2pm and 7pm, at Alyth Town Hall, Albert Street.
The proposed extension would allow new equipment to be installed next to the existing Alyth substation, as part of wider plans to upgrade the substation from 275kV to 400kV operation.
The equipment will help maintain and manage voltage levels within the transmission network, ensuring that electricity can be transported safely and reliably.
Members of the project team will be available throughout the event to explain the proposals, answer questions and hear feedback from the local community. Attendees can learn more about the site selection process, environmental considerations and anticipated project programme.
Louise Anderson, Lead Community Liaison Manager at SSEN Transmission, said:
“We’re inviting the local community and all interested parties to come along and learn more about our plans to extend Alyth substation.
“Feedback from local communities is an important part of how we develop our projects. This consultation gives people the opportunity to meet the team, ask questions and share their views, which will help us understand local priorities and considerations as we continue to develop our plans.
“We’d encourage anyone with an interest in the project to drop into Alyth Town Hall on Tuesday 27 October, find out more and have their say."
