Perth-headquartered SSEN Transmission has announced its sponsorship of one of the unique bear sculptures featured in the Bear’s Big Adventure Trail 2026 by YMCA Tayside this summer.
Organised by YMCA Tayside in partnership with Wild in Art, the trail will see 30 artist-designed bear sculptures placed across towns, parks and public spaces throughout Perth and Kinross from 22 June to 2 September. The free, family-friendly event aims to encourage exploration of the region while raising funds to support vital local youth services.
Our sponsored sculpture will be located at Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre, adding to the visitor experience at one of the area’s most popular destinations. The location was chosen to give people the opportunity to enjoy the trail while learning more about how electricity is generated and transported across the north of Scotland.
The sculpture has been designed and painted by artist Stewart Graham. Titled There and Back Again, the artwork reflects Tayside's trails, from Cairngorm mountains to Angus beaches, celebrating natural landscapes across the area. The design aligns with our commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment while upgrading the electricity transmission network, underlining our role in supporting nature restoration and safeguarding heritage across the communities we serve.
Our sponsorship reflects our role in delivering a £29bn investment programme to upgrade the north of Scotland’s electricity transmission network - supporting jobs, powering communities, and enabling the transition to a clean, secure energy future.
By hosting the sculpture at Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre, we are also helping to support local tourism and encourage more people to spend time in the area, boosting footfall for local attractions and businesses.
Catherine Maclean, Events and Sponsorship Manager at SSEN Transmission, said:
“We’re pleased to support Bear’s Big Adventure Trail 2026 and be part of an initiative that brings people together across Perthshire.
“As we deliver major investment in the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland, it’s important that we support the communities we serve – particularly here in Perthshire, where we are proud to be based. This sponsorship is a great way to create something positive for the area, while giving people the chance to explore, learn more about what we do, and enjoy a great day out.
“We encourage everyone to get out and about across Perth and Kinross this summer, enjoy a bit of bear spotting, and experience everything the region has to offer.
“We look forward to welcoming people to see our bear at Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre throughout the summer.”
