Road improvement works to begin near Broadford ahead of substation project

Work to get underway from Tuesday 1 September for up to six weeks.
Road improvement works are set to begin at the junction of Old Corry Road and the A87 near Broadford from Tuesday 1 September as part of preparations for SSEN Transmission's Broadford Substation development.
The junction upgrade works will widen the junction to improve safe access for construction traffic travelling to and from the substation site and minimise impact on traffic flow on the A87 during construction.
To allow these road works to be carried out safely, a northbound lane closure will be in place on the A87 at the junction with Old Corry Road near Broadford for up to six weeks, with temporary three-way traffic lights operating 24 hours a day during this time.
Following completion of the junction improvements, upgrades to Old Corry Road will take place. These works are expected to take up to 12 weeks, with all Old Corry Road users diverted onto a temporary road which runs parallel to the route to ensure access is maintained at all times. No traffic management will be required on the A87 during the Old Corry Road phase of the works.

"We appreciate these works may cause some temporary inconvenience and would like to thank local residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding while they are carried out."
Similar access point works on the A87 will be required across the Skye Reinforcement Project area to provide safe access for construction teams working on the new overhead line. SSEN Transmission will continue to engage with local communities and road users ahead of any future works and provide regular updates once details are available.
