Substation team dig in to tidy up popular Peterhead community park

A team of volunteers from our Peterhead Substation Super Grid Transformer Replacement project swapped their day jobs for trowels and spades to help improve a well-used community park in Peterhead.   

Working with the Peterhead Area Community Trust members at Victoria Park in Peterhead, the ten volunteers spent several hours weeding, strimming and digging flower beds, bringing a disused and neglected part of the park back to life for the enjoyment of the local community. 

Peterhead Area Community Trust is a volunteer-led Scottish charity established in 2018. Its aim is to improve the lives of people in Peterhead by using sport, recreation and community projects to promote health, wellbeing, inclusion and community cohesion. 

The event brought together volunteers from the Peterhead 132kV substation upgrade project, with additional support from contractor Balfour Beatty. The day provided an opportunity for colleagues to give back to the local community while supporting the efforts of the Trust in providing a much-used community space.
