SSEN Transmission’s supply chain partner, Hitachi Energy, is investing £3 million to create a UK Engineering Centre of Excellence in the heart of Glasgow city centre, creating nearly 90 new jobs.
The new office, expected to open in early 2026, will provide a base for specialist engineers and project managers supporting SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030 investment programme.
Laura Fleming, Hitachi Energy’s Country Managing Director for the UK and Ireland said:
“We are delighted to make this significant investment in Scotland, adding to our footprint across the UK, which is largely due to the continued trust of our customers in helping them to deliver the energy system of the future. Together, we are rapidly expanding to meet soaring demand for grid infrastructure.”
