We’re building a network for net zero and delivering clean power for generations. As we expand our infrastructure, we’re committed to making the transition fair, inclusive and rooted in local places.
A just transition means ensuring people and communities share the benefits of decarbonisation, from jobs and training to thriving local economies, while protecting nature and respecting human rights.
Our Approach
Our work is guided by SSE’s Just Transition Strategy and our Sustainability Strategy. We embed Fair Work principles, uphold Living Wage accreditation, and set high supplier standards with zero tolerance for modern slavery. We plan long-term but act locally, shaping projects with communities to create lasting value.
What We’re Doing

Deliver up to 1,000 homes by 2030 to support workers and communities.

Provide £100 million in Community Benefit Funding by 2030.

Publish a Just Transition Workforce Plan by 2026, with re-skilling and career pathways.

Achieve at least 10% biodiversity net gain across new projects and expand marine restoration.
Measuring Success
We track progress annually in our Sustainability Reports and adapt our approach based on evidence and engagement.
