Following guidance from the National Energy System Operator (NESO), SSEN Transmission, working with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET), are addressing the need identified to increase capacity of the existing transmission network between Scotland and the England. The Eastern Green Link 5 (EGL5) project will help provide the increased capacity needed, carrying up to 2 GW of electricity, enough for two million homes. This will be achieved through a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable connection from Aberdeenshire to Lincolnshire, as outlined in NESO’s Holistic Network Design (HND) process.

We are holding a consultation event for the marine element of our proposed Eastern Green Link 5 project. The project is in the early stages of development and the event is intended to provide a high-level overview of the project and specifically to present the broad area of interest for the subsea cable from the Aberdeenshire coast to the Scottish English maritime border.

During this event you will meet the project team and view information on our indicative cable route from 12 nautical miles offshore to the Scottish English maritime border and a broad area of interest for the cable landfall along the Aberdeenshire coast
