Section 37 consent has recently been granted by Scottish ministers for the Dunoon Overhead Line Rebuild Project which will replace the existing double circuit 132kV overhead line connecting Dunoon to the national grid. The project is a vital investment to enhance local network resilience and replace aging infrastructure – some of which was originally installed in the 1970s – and will help future-proof the transmission network in Argyll and Bute.

Delivered by SSEN Transmission in collaboration with our principal contractor OMEXOM, full mobilisation is due to kick off in June 2026. This drop‑in event is open to local residents and local businesses and provides an opportunity to speak directly with the project team and our principal contractor.

The event will provide an update on the consented project, outline the construction programme, and explain how the works will be delivered. Attendees will be able to understand the next steps for the projectm and raise any questions directly with the project team.

The event will also include a Meet the Buyer element, offering local businesses the opportunity to engage with our principal contractor and discuss potential opportunities within the local supply chain. The project may create opportunities for local businesses across a range of services, including accommodation, security, catering, cleaning services, aggregate supply, local labour, road gritting, and building and wholesaler merchants. Businesses are encouraged to attend to discuss how they may be able to support the project.
