Drumoak Durris Warm Space

Funding recipient story

The Drumoak Durris Warm Space has become a cornerstone of community support during the harsh winter months by offering a free, heated venue where residents can gather, socialise, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment. Over the years demand has grown significantly, with over 50 attendees at some of the sessions in 2025.

Bringing comfort, community and connection during winter

With the help of £4,722 in funding from SSEN Transmission’s East Coast Local Community Benefit Fund, the project has been able to continue providing a safe, welcoming environment for those seeking warmth, companionship, and a sense of belonging during the winter of 2025/26.

Ann Malcolm, Chair of the Drumoak Durris Warm Space Management Committee, said:

"Drumoak Durris Warm Space continues to be a popular weekly community event throughout the winter months.

We are delighted that the funding helps us provide warmth, hospitality, companionship and entertainment for folks from far and wide which is free but which is valued so highly in other ways by the 50 or so people who come to us every week."

Any local musicians that would like to entertain local residents at the Warm Space should get in touch via their Facebook page.
