The Siblings Project - Perth Autism Support
Funding recipient story
Supporting siblings of autistic children through connection and understanding
Through weekly two-hour sessions over 33 weeks, the project offers one-to-one sessions, school support, and primary and secondary age sibling groups which foster peer support, reduce isolation, and promote resilience. For those needing additional help, one-to-one sessions provide tailored support on individual issues, ensuring every child feels heard and understood.
Funding from SSEN Transmission covers venue hire, resources, staff, and planning costs, enabling PAS to deliver this essential service. By supporting siblings’ emotional wellbeing and social development, the project creates a lasting positive impact for families and the wider community.
Ellie Donnan-Thomson, Children’s Service Manager said:
“The funding from the East Coast Local Community Benefit Fund has been transformative for The Sibling Project. It has allowed us to create safe, fun spaces where siblings of autistic children can connect, share experiences, and build friendships.
We’ve seen fantastic engagement, with those who attend coming back time and again, which shows just how much these sessions mean to them. These opportunities help reduce isolation and strengthen family resilience, and we’re incredibly grateful to SSEN Transmission for supporting this vital work.”
