The Haven, Stonehaven

Building a lasting postnatal community through the East Coast Local Fund

With £5,000 funding from our East Coast Local Fund, The Haven in Stonehaven delivered 32 weeks of in-person postnatal support. Sessions combined gentle yoga, baby massage, mindfulness circles, journalling, breastfeeding support and creative seasonal activities, all designed to nurture wellbeing and connection in a relaxed, welcoming space.

In total, 32 mums and 32 babies benefited, forming a core group of around 20 families who reported reduced isolation and anxiety while building lasting local friendships. The group now meets independently every Monday at a local soft play centre run by one of the mums.play centre run by one of the mums

The Haven in Stonehaven added:

"We are incredibly grateful to SSEN Transmission for their support in funding our fourth New Mums Wellbeing Group at The Haven. This grant has been instrumental in facilitating sessions that help navigate the joyful yet tender journey of being a new mum.

In-person connections with others facing similar challenges are crucial for mothers and carers. Given the current funding climate in the third sector, SSEN's support has enabled us to deliver these vital sessions, allowing mums to build meaningful connections and create a supportive network within the community."
