As SSEN Transmission continues to grow our workforce to deliver a network for net zero, the business will be taking up residence at a new office in Glasgow in 2025, reflecting the need for an increase in green energy workers across Scotland, including in the central belt.
Alongside the SSE Group’s Distribution business, SSEN Transmission will be taking out a lease on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors, and part of the ground floor, in Glasgow’s refurbished Aurora Building, on Bothwell Street.
In September of this year, SSEN Transmission celebrated continued growth as we welcomed our 2,000th team member to the business, marking a fivefold increase in headcount in five years.
And that recruitment drive continues, with 500 new jobs expected to be filled at the company this financial year - many of those roles able to be flexibly located at the business’s offices in Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Perth. Glasgow-based roles will move with SSEN Transmission to the Aurora building when refurbishment work is complete.
Not only does the office move support SSEN Transmission’s growth, but it also supports the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Glasgow’s most sustainable office, Aurora has achieved Net Zero Carbon, an Energy Performance Certificate ‘A+’ rating and is 100% powered by renewable energy. The refurbishment of the building will also deliver a 77% reduction in carbon emissions compared to an equivalent new-build property.
David Tate, Director of Property and FM at SSE, said:
“SSE continues to invest billions into the net zero transition, and to support this expansion we’ve decided to enter into this lease at Aurora which is conveniently located, and only a few minutes’ walk from our existing office at One Waterloo Street.
“Now that the lease has been agreed, work is progressing on developing a detailed project plan to ensure the new building fully meets the needs of those moving to it, and colleagues are expected to move in towards the end of 2025.”
