Public engagement events for A832 dates announced
We will be holding two public engagement events in October, where it will share detailed information on its work to minimise the impact of essential roadworks on the A832.
The events follow the company’s commitment to seek solutions in response to community feedback over its initial proposals affecting a 4.7km section of the road south of Dundonnell through to Fain Bridge.
Details of the events are as follows:
- Monday, 27 October (6-8pm) Aultbea Hall, Aultbea, IV22 2JR
- Tuesday, 28 October (6-8pm) Badcaul Church, Dundonnell, IV23 2QY
The events will give people the opportunity to speak to the project team and learn more about revised proposals designed to minimise the impact of roadworks, which are required to replace or upgrade 37 culverts along the cable route in preparation for the installation of the proposed Western Isles HVDC cable.
Last week, we announced that no work would take place until January 2026 at the earliest, allowing additional time to develop revised proposals in response to community feedback.
Niall Macleod, Project Director for SSEN Transmission, said:
“We are fully committed to ongoing engagement with road users, local communities and stakeholders as we develop our proposals, and we are actively seeking solutions to minimise the impact of the roadworks, such as single lane closures or nighttime working.
“The events taking place in October will allow our project team to share our revised proposals with the local community and answer any questions that people may have.
“Public engagement is a key part of our project development process, and we are grateful for the feedback we have received which is helping shape our approach to this important project.
“We’d like to thank all those who have contributed so far, and we look forward to our events taking place on 27 and 28 October that will allow us an opportunity to present revised proposals and gather additional feedback.”
