Information events on proposed A832 roadworks cancelled due to severe weather

We regret to announce that the planned community information events in Aultbea on 7 January and Badcaul on 8 January, which were scheduled to discuss revised plans for proposed roadworks on the A832 as part of the installation of the Western Isles HVDC cable, have been cancelled.

This decision has been made due to severe weather and associated road conditions, which present safety concerns for attendees.

As stated in our previous press release, we expect a single-lane closure with traffic management system to begin on 19 January 2026.  The closure will operate under a convoy system with manned traffic lights during the daytime, with only traffic lights in operation overnight (7pm – 7am). The affected distance will be approximately 500 metres at a time, and delays are expected to no longer than 15 minutes at a time.

We remain committed to engaging with the local community regarding the roadworks and will host alternative information events at a later date, ahead of planned nighttime closures in summer 2026.  Details of these events will be shared as soon as they are confirmed.
