A Perthshire community is benefiting from new lifesaving equipment following the installation of a publicly accessible defibrillator at Kynachan Hall in Tummel Bridge.
The device was installed last year following a donation of over £2,200 from our Errochty Grid Supply Point (GSP) project team.
The new defibrillator provides vital emergency coverage in the area, where access to time‑critical medical assistance can be limited.
This week, representatives from SSEN Transmission and our principal contractor Burns & McDonnell visited the community to mark its installation. We were joined by community first responders and members of the Kynachan Hall committee.
A plaque highlighting the donation, which sits alongside the defibrillator, was produced locally by The Workshop in Aberfeldy, a social enterprise that provides training and employment opportunities for young people facing additional barriers, including mental and physical disabilities.
Louise Anderson, Lead Community Liaison Manager for the Errochty GSP project, said:
“Communities in rural Perthshire can sometimes face challenges accessing urgent medical assistance, so we’re proud to play a part in strengthening local resilience through the installation of this new defibrillator at Kynachan Hall.
It’s a simple piece of equipment that can make an extraordinary difference in an emergency, and we’re glad to support its installation alongside our principal contractors on the Errochty GSP project, Burns & McDonnell.
This donation forms part of SSEN Transmission’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities where our projects are based, and it was lovely to meet with community first responders and members of the hall committee this week, to celebrate the installation of the defibrillator.”
Ali El-Ghorr, a long serving member of the local First Responder Team, added:
"The new defibrillator is an immensely valuable and potentially lifesaving asset for Kynachan Hall and the local community. Hopefully it will never be needed, but it might just save a life."
Nial Mackinlay, from Kynachan Hall Volunteer Committee, said:
"All who use the hall thank SSEN Transmission along with Burns & McDonnell for the very generous donation of the defibrillator."
