Dame Sue Bruce to join the SSEN Transmission Board

Dame Sue Bruce will join the SSEN Transmission Board on 1 April as a Non‑Executive Director, succeeding Gary Steel, who is stepping down.
Dame Sue brings extensive senior leadership and governance experience across the public, private and third sectors back to SSE, having previously served as a Non-Executive Director on the SSE Plc Board – she boasts a long career in local government, including as Chief Executive of the City of Edinburgh Council. Earlier in her career, she also held Chief Executive roles at Aberdeen City Council and East Dunbartonshire Council, before retiring from local government in 2015. She is currently Chair of the National Trust for Scotland.
Commenting on her appointment, Dame Sue said:

I’m really looking forward to working with the Board and executive team as SSEN Transmission continues to play a critical role in supporting the delivery of Scotland and the UK’s energy security and clean power targets, as well as the vast economic opportunities that come with all of that work.”
Gary Steel, who is departing the Board, said:
