Overview
Transport of Transformers to Wester Balblair
We recently advised that the re-scheduled second transformer delivery under police escort from Invergordon to Wester Balblair on the morning of Saturday 5th July would be due to take place between the hours of 8am and 10.30am.
Due to safety checks undertaken by our hauliers and contractors, this was delayed to approx. 12.30pm.
We would like to thank road users for their patience during the delivery of these essential abnormal loads, which have now been completed and apologise for any inconvenience which may have been caused due to the delay of the second transformer.
We will not require any additional abnormal load deliveries to site until much later this year.
About the Project
The Beauly 132kV Reinforcement Project is required to enable the connection of Loch Luichart Extension II Wind Farm. Infinergy signed a connection offer for 36MW of generation in 2019, and we are now looking to replace aging assets at Beauly 132kV Substation to enable this connection to the grid.
The project will involve the following elements:
- A new 132kV gas insulated substation (GIS) building constructed as an offline extension to the existing 132kV air insulated substation (AIS)
- Decommissioning and removal of the existing 132kV substation once the existing circuits have been brought to the new 132kV GIS building
- Decommissioning of three existing transformers within the existing 132kV substation and replaced with three new transformers with noise enclosures
This project will deliver more operational flexibility and improve network security at Beauly 132kV Substation.
Meet the Buyer Event 2022
The project team in collaboration with our Principal Contractor, SiemensBAM, held a Meet the Buyer event in 2022 ahead of works commencing on site. This was an informal drop-in session providing the opportunity for local businesses to exchange details and discuss possible opportunities for the local supply chain.
The project has the potential to create opportunities in the following fields: accomodation, security, fencing, skip hire, catering, cleaning services, PPE/office equipment, plant, taxi services, drinking water.
Community Engagement
Throughout the life of our projects, we aim to work positively with local communities and keep people informed about what we are doing. This is particularly important when we are developing a project and we want to understand what local people think about our plans.
We endeavour to take the time to discuss our proposals with local community councils and the wider affected community and to carry out engagement at key stages, listening to feedback before finalising project plans.
As the project enters the construction phase, we remain commited to ensuring local interested parties are kept up to date with the progress of the project and any associated impacts.
How we’re embracing artificial intelligence (AI)
We intend to use AI to assist our experienced teams in the analysis of your feedback, so we can categorise key points raised more quickly. You can learn more about how we’re utilising AI on this dedicated web page.
