Overview
Lerwick House - Public Event
SSEN Transmission are pleased to be hosting a public event for our proposed Lerwick House project.
We are holding this face-to-face event as part of the statutory Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) process, which is required for major planning applications. This drop‑in event will provide an opportunity to view our proposals and for members of the public, statutory consultees and other key stakeholders to share comments and feedback.
The event will be held on:
Date: 17 June 2026
Time: 2pm – 7pm
Venue: Bertha Park Community Hub, 15 Adamson Avenue, Perth PH1 0AL
Following the event, the statutory pre‑application consultation feedback period will remain open until 15 July 2026. You can submit your comments and feedback via the feedback form at the top of the page or by emailing or writing to your Community Liaison Manager.
This event is the first of two statutory pre‑application consultation events. The second event is due to take place in August 2026, where we will share our responses to the feedback received and outline any updates or changes to our proposals.
We will continue to welcome comments and feedback on our proposals in advance of our submission of the planning application later this year. Feedback received after the PAC feedback period will still be reviewed and considered where possible.
If you are unable to attend the public event, all materials on display will be available to download from the Documents section of this webpage.
About the Project
The electricity network across the north of Scotland is evolving to meet changing energy needs and support the transition to a low‑carbon future. As the network grows, there is an increasing need for well‑coordinated operations, specialist support, and skilled people working in modern, well‑designed environments.
To help meet this need, we are proposing the development of a new purpose‑built office building to the north of Bertha Park, Perth. Known as Lerwick House, the development will provide modern office accommodation to support the organisation’s operational and administrative activities.
Lerwick House represents an investment in the people who plan, operate, and support the electricity network. The building will provide a safe, efficient, and inclusive workplace that supports staff wellbeing and meets the organisation’s longer‑term needs as the network continues to develop.
The project proposal includes a two‑storey office building with flexible workspaces, meeting rooms, staff welfare facilities, parking, and landscaped external areas. The design has been carefully considered to ensure the building sits comfortably within its surroundings, with appropriate attention given to scale, layout, materials, and its relationship with neighbouring land uses.
While Lerwick House is an office building, it will operate on a 24‑hour basis to support round‑the‑clock operational requirements. Activity outside normal daytime working hours is expected to be limited and largely contained within the building.
Community Engagement
Throughout the life of our projects, we aim to work positively with local communities and keep people informed about what we are doing. This is particularly important when we are developing a proposal and we want to understand what local people think about our plans.
We endeavour to take the time to discuss proposals with local community councils, encourage engagement from the wider community and listen to the feedback we receive.
We will do our best to answer any questions and address issues or concerns that are raised with us.
When our project progresses into construction, we will continue working closely with the local community to ensure that our work has as little impact on the lives of those living and working in the area and as many long term positive effects as possible.

How we’re embracing artificial intelligence (AI)
We intend to use AI to assist our experienced teams in the analysis of your feedback, so we can categorise key points raised more quickly. You can learn more about how we’re utilising AI on this dedicated web page.
