Overview
Lerwick House - Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Feedback Event - August 2026
We are holding the second of our statutory pre-application consultation events for our proposed Lerwick House project. We would like to thank those who took the time to attend our first event on 17 June and submitted feedback on our plans.
During our consultation event you will be able to view information about our proposed plans, our responses to feedback received from the last event, meet the project team and share further comments.
We would encourage members of the local community and all interested parties to attend the event.
The open-door drop-in face to face consultation will be taking place on:
Date: Wednesday 26 August 2026
Time: 2pm – 7pm
Venue: Bertha Park Community Hub, 15 Adamson Avenue, Perth PH1 0AL
We welcome final feedback on our proposals until 09 September 2026. Following the close of the pre-application consultation period, the project team will review all feedback received before the planning application is submitted in Q3/Q4 2026.
Please note that comments made are to Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission, as the Applicant, and are not representations to the planning authority. There will be an opportunity to make representations to Perth and Kinross Council once the application is submitted.
If you are unable to attend the public event, all consultation materials are available to view in ‘Documents’.
About the Project
The electricity network across the north of Scotland is evolving to meet changing energy needs and support the transition to a low‑carbon future. As the network grows, there is an increasing need for well‑coordinated operations, specialist support, and skilled people working in modern, well‑designed environments.
To help meet this need, we are proposing the development of a new purpose‑built office building to the north of Bertha Park, Perth. Known as Lerwick House, the development will provide modern office accommodation to support the organisation’s operational and administrative activities.
Lerwick House represents an investment in the people who plan, operate, and support the electricity network. The building will provide a safe, efficient, and inclusive workplace that supports staff wellbeing and meets the organisation’s longer‑term needs as the network continues to develop.
The project proposal includes a two‑storey office building with flexible workspaces, meeting rooms, staff welfare facilities, parking, and landscaped external areas. The design has been carefully considered to ensure the building sits comfortably within its surroundings, with appropriate attention given to scale, layout, materials, and its relationship with neighbouring land uses.
While Lerwick House is an office building, it will operate on a 24‑hour basis to support round‑the‑clock operational requirements. Activity outside normal daytime working hours is expected to be limited and largely contained within the building.
Community Engagement
Throughout the life of our projects, we aim to work positively with local communities and keep people informed about what we are doing. This is particularly important when we are developing a proposal and we want to understand what local people think about our plans.
We endeavour to take the time to discuss proposals with local community councils, encourage engagement from the wider community and listen to the feedback we receive.
We will do our best to answer any questions and address issues or concerns that are raised with us.
When our project progresses into construction, we will continue working closely with the local community to ensure that our work has as little impact on the lives of those living and working in the area and as many long term positive effects as possible.

How we’re embracing artificial intelligence (AI)
We intend to use AI to assist our experienced teams in the analysis of your feedback, so we can categorise key points raised more quickly. You can learn more about how we’re utilising AI on this dedicated web page.
