Overview
About the Project
We are developing a project which will seek to connect Scottish Power's Sheidrim Wind Farm, located west of Claonaig, Argyll, to our transmission network. The 84MW windfarm requires a single circuit 132kV overhead line connection from the Wind Farm Substation compound to the existing Crossaig 132kV Substation, which will be approximately 11km in length.
The proposed project would involve:
- A possible underground cable from the Sheirdrim Wind farm Substation Compound, extending approximately 2 km before converting to overhead line
- Between 8-11km of trident wood poles or steel lattice structures to carry a single circuit 132kV overhead line
- Install a 120MVA 132/33kV transformer, a Gas insulated substation 33kV transformer Circuit Breaker, and a 33kV Switch Disconnector
- Felling commercial forestry to create an operational corridor, to enable the safe operation and maintenance of the overhead line
- Associated works will include creation of temporary laydown areas for materials and welfare facilities, installation of permanent and temporary access tracks, and drainage infrastructure
Community Engagement
Throughout the life of our projects, we aim to work positively with local communities and keep people informed about what we are doing. This is particularly important when we are developing a proposal and we want to understand what local people think about our plans.
We endeavour to take the time to discuss proposals with local community councils, encourage engagement from the wider community and listen to the feedback we receive.
We will do our best to answer any questions and address issues or concerns that are raised with us.
When our project progresses into construction, we will continue working closely with the local community to ensure that our work has as little impact on the lives of those living and working in the area and as many long term positive effects as possible.
How we’re embracing artificial intelligence (AI)
We intend to use AI to assist our experienced teams in the analysis of your feedback, so we can categorise key points raised more quickly. You can learn more about how we’re utilising AI on this dedicated web page.
